During the 1850s, seven sons of Francois Perron and Charlotte Leclaire left St. Ours, Quebec for Mendota, Minnesota. Four of the brothers remained in Minnesota settling at Mendota and near Faribault. Three returned to Canada because they found the frontier to be too harsh. Those that remained raised large families and there are thousands of descendants. Two additional emigrations of Perrons came to Minnesota.
Pierre Perron and Edwidge Aucoin came in 1879 and raised a large family at White Bear Lake and Little Canada. All of the Perron immigrants to Minnesota descend from Daniel Perron and his wife Louis Gargotin.
Members of the Perron family began to hold a picnic in 1960. The picnic has been held each year since then … 59 years! We love to share the extensive information that has been gathered about these families.
