For centuries farming was considered a men’s occupation. Women were usually mothers and homemakers. Through the centuries there have been exceptional women who owned and managed farms. Some inherited the farm from family or husbands. Others developed successful farms on their own without depending on men to manage the affairs. In some cases, religious orders had farms to provide food and activities as part of their mission. This book tells the stories of courageous women who owned highly successful dairy farms during the 20th Century.
